Yes, this is what it looks like. Sort of. On Friday, my latest guest (Christie) and I hit the Fukagawa Edo Museum. Super cool place with a replicate Edo-period village all housed conveniently under one trick-lighting roof. So, in case you were wondering, this really is what a traditional Japanese toilet looks like - and what a traditional half-Japanese girl looks like when pretending like she knows how to use one. Cool toilet! I'd like to go to that museum. I guess that explains the turkish toilets a bit. But why they still like using them is another story.
