Too cool news!!

Hey, Everyone-

Cool news!! For the last few months, I've been submitting pictures to a photoblog I came across from another blog. Yesterday, I was invited to join as a permanent photographer!!

The name of the site is Global Themes and the photographers are from all over the world and live all over the world. Check it out by clicking here! (Warning for folks accessing at work: There is music that plays when you go on the site, so be sure to turn your speakers down if that's a problem at work.)

More about blood sausage...

ADDENDUM 08/30/2007:

My famous (in my own head) "Evil Vegetarian/Blood Sausage" story goes like this:

I am an evil vegetarian. This means that even though I'm unwilling to put something in my mouth that looks like scabs, I am not against convincing my meat-eating friends to do so.

Flashback to December 2001, picture it, Kilkenny, Ireland. My roommate and I were on a weekend trip to Dublin from Paris and had booked in at a small bed and breakfast. When I made the reservations, I told them I'm a vegetarian, so when breakfast showed up after our first night, I got a lovely plate of scrambled eggs, beans, toast, and tomato slices. My roommate got a lovely plate of scrambled eggs, beans, toast, and... hmm, some sort of sausage (wink, wink). My roommate being somewhat less worldly than I in terms of different kinds of cuisine, eyed the sausage suspiciously and wondered if she should eat it. I knew right away what it was, thanks to the fact that my dear friend Maggie is a major lover of the Spanish version of blood sausage (morcilla) and would eat it every chance she got at restaurants. Also, who doesn't learn about boudin noir in their French class??

Anyway, I think what I said went something like, "Oh, go on. I'm sure it's a local specialty sausage. You should really eat it. It might hurt the owner's feelings if you don't. At least take a little bite to show you made an effort!" Ah, guilt, my friend always. Hehehehe...

The guilt-trip was very effective on my roommate and she took a little bit of the sausage on her fork. Just as the fork was about to go into her mouth with the piece of blood sausage on it, I started to laugh and had to stop her. I couldn't go all the way through with it... that would have been just a little too evil. I explained what it really was, my roommate through the fork down, got mad at me for almost making her eat BLOOD SAUSAGE, barely ate anything else on her plate, and sulked the rest of the meal.

Geez, can't anyone take a joke?? It's not like I actually let her eat it... [insert evil laugh!]

Yum, yum, gimme some.

The best description ever of that favorite English dish, Black Pudding (a.k.a. Blood sausage):

"Dried pig's blood? That has to be the most revolting thing I've heard. It's like eating scabs." [Italics and bold added for emphasis.]

I had to get rid of the black pudding photo - it was just too gross to keep looking at, but you want to see it, please click here.

Also, random Google search find: possibly the oddest vegetarian food ever created: Vegetarian Blood Pudding... WHY??

Much love, much love

Dom and Sabra did an amazing hip hop a few weeks ago, that deserves to be showcased:

And I love the song from Danny and Anya's contemporary:

Also, I can't remember if I put up this hip hop by Anya and Danny (pay close attention to the final pose - she hits that right on cue!):

He is a champion.

I've been rooting for Sabra to win SYTYCD all season, but there is no doubt that Danny is the most technically advanced and awe-inspiring dancer of them all. Big congrats to Sabra (I voted for her 4 times before I fell asleep from jet lag)!! But, I have to show Danny's final solo. I emotionally love and connect to the previous solo I showed of his, but the solo he did on the finale shows what I'm talking about in terms of his technical abilities. I mean, the stage could barely contain him!

Note: The actual dance starts around the 2:10 mark, so feel free to skip over the intro/interview if you just wanna get right to the good stuff.

I'm so excited because I bought tickets to see the tour performance in Baltimore in October! Yay!

I'm, like, so whatever, you know.

I'm back from "vacation" (read: shopping expedition) in California. I spent most of my time shopping and eating at my favorite restaurants, but I did make some time for some oceanside relaxation. Here's what a real-life wave sound machine looks like in Laguna Beach, CA:

Not to be continued

I bought the final Harry Potter book today. I almost don't want to start it because that means I'll have to eventually finish it and then... that'll be it. The end.

A la discotheque?

FYI, this week was THE MOST AMAZING episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" yet. I was moved or pumped by almost every dance and both the dancers and the choreographers brought their game this week. And, I think Danny gave the best male solo of the entire season (watch his face after he gets up from the floor and looks in the camera - it's so genuine, I feel like crying every time I see it). Here are some clips:

Santa Fe, are you there? Do ya swear ya won't forget me?

Okay, so it's not Santa Fe, but this was the best I could do on short notice, aiight?? Any excuse to give a "Newsies" shout out is okay by me.

So, anyway, I'll be blogging even less consistently than I usually do over the next couple weeks. So, swear ya won't forget me, okay?

P.S. If you wanna hear a guy singing "Santa Fe," click here for the YouTube vid.

Ou est la piscine? Splish-splash?

As if I needed another reason to have these two guys on my list of soulmates... Ah, sigh.

She ain't no Strunk and White

Today I wrote what was possibly the best and worst editing comment I've ever made all wrapped up into one:

"Be more specific and use verbs."

Thank you! Thanks! I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.
