Don't bug me, I'm DANCIN!

As I am sure you are ALL aware and as excited about as I am, the 2008 season of the Fox TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance" is well under way, with this past week being the first of the top 20 competition. And, of course, thanks to the audition shows and my (un?)healthy, long-standing (I was there from the beginning!) addiction to the show, I've already got a couple favorite dancers and, certainly, a favorite dance of the week.

Fave Dancers:
  1. Twitch Boss - First of all, his name is frickin' awesome. Second of all, his dancing is even cooler than his name.
  2. Will - Don't know his last name, but his solo this week blew me away and he's doing his mentor, Debbie Allen, proud.
  3. Chelsea - Don't know her last name (there are two Chelseas, too, further complicating situation), but she partners with Cris. She has great technique, great stage presence, and legs that are like a mile long, so, of course, I hate her and want to be her at the same time.
  4. Kherrington Payne - No, this isn't the guy from Grease 2 (that's Michael Carrington). This is the blond chick who partners with Twitch and is just really fun to watch.
Fave Dance - Week 1:

The part where he comes backwards up off the floor is ridiculous - how does he do that? I love this dance. It reminds me of the stuff Shane Sparks does.

Much love, much love

Dom and Sabra did an amazing hip hop a few weeks ago, that deserves to be showcased:

And I love the song from Danny and Anya's contemporary:

Also, I can't remember if I put up this hip hop by Anya and Danny (pay close attention to the final pose - she hits that right on cue!):

He is a champion.

I've been rooting for Sabra to win SYTYCD all season, but there is no doubt that Danny is the most technically advanced and awe-inspiring dancer of them all. Big congrats to Sabra (I voted for her 4 times before I fell asleep from jet lag)!! But, I have to show Danny's final solo. I emotionally love and connect to the previous solo I showed of his, but the solo he did on the finale shows what I'm talking about in terms of his technical abilities. I mean, the stage could barely contain him!

Note: The actual dance starts around the 2:10 mark, so feel free to skip over the intro/interview if you just wanna get right to the good stuff.

I'm so excited because I bought tickets to see the tour performance in Baltimore in October! Yay!

A la discotheque?

FYI, this week was THE MOST AMAZING episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" yet. I was moved or pumped by almost every dance and both the dancers and the choreographers brought their game this week. And, I think Danny gave the best male solo of the entire season (watch his face after he gets up from the floor and looks in the camera - it's so genuine, I feel like crying every time I see it). Here are some clips:

Imaginary polygamy

Okay, so a newest addition to my ever-growing list of soulmates:

Pasha, from the current season of "So You Think You Can Dance."

Why he's on the list:

1) He can dance - really well.

2) He's cute in a goofy and full-head-of-hair kind of way.

3) He's got a sexy Russian accent but doesn't sound like he's hunting Bullwinkle.

4) He's straight - though I guess that goes without saying if he's on this list. (I'm sure I should be making a separate "Gay Boyfriend Soulmate" List.)

My favorite Pasha dances so far:

1) This JazzHandstastic piece he did with Sara a few weeks ago:

2) AfroJazz piece he did with Jessie way back toward the beginning of the season. I really didn't think he'd be able to pull Jazz off, but he did really, really well.

3) Hip hop with Lauren - choreographed by Shane Sparks, so, of course, that's an advantage from the get go. The Russian Latin ballroom dancer pulled off hip hop!

Japan-ish posts coming soon. But wanted to share these great dances with you!

In absentia

Okay, here's the mini-deal. I'm not so much employed right now as I am not so much unemployed. I've been super lucky to get some editing work sent my way recently and have been uber occupada (and sleep-deprived, hence the very strange word choices). I've got another week o' caffeine and hair-pulling (and lovin' every paying second of it!) and then I'll be back with some real posts- I promise! I've got like 5 post ideas sitting in line just waiting to be written!

In the meantime, if you've gotten sick of Tinkerbell's America-Love-a-Ganza (though, to be honest, I don't know how that is possible), I leave you with some clips of my favorite dances from the currently airing season 3 of "So You Think You Can Dance." Almost all the dancers are pretty frickin' amazing this summer.

Now, 5, 6, 7, 8!

Wade Robson does it again.

This one is a contemporary piece from one of the new choreographers this season, Mandy Moore (not the singer).

No surprise, this one was choreographed by the amazing Mia Michaels.

This guy was at the auditions. He didn't make it through past the first round, but what he does in this video is really amazing. He's so good at isolations, it's freaky. Shane Sparks trips out on how good this guy is.
